Southern Maine Chapter - News

Southern Maine Chapter meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at various locations.  SOME Chapter has five active Area Groups which each meet once each month.  For times and locations of all other meetings please check with Barbara Hepburn at Barbarahepburn1945@gmail.com

Membership:
71 Members + 20 Plural members for a total of 91. Several New members in the past two weeks.

October: In honor of Halloween, our Bay Pine group stitched small black witches, a project taught by Linda Marchand, the witches were adorable, fun to make and well received!

Upcoming programs:

    1. November 27, 2018: Annual Christmas Pot luck with yard sale and special surprise project. The winner of the Golden Needle Award will also be drawn at this meeting.
    2. January 15, 2019: Chapter Meeting , Program to be announced

  2. March 19, 20, 21 & 22, 2019: Calumet Retreat
  3. May 21, 2019: Annual SOME Chapter Meeting, Lecture by Stephanie Drehs followed by 1day Special Class - Raised Beadwork Needlecase with Stephanie Drehs
  4. July16, 2019: Chapter Meeting - Cording.
  5. July 17, 2019: Special Class with Catherine Theron, Needlecase and Scissors Fob.
  6. September 17, 2019: Chapter Meeting -project TBD

SOME Chapter programs are open to all NER Members. We also welcome participation from the public if space allows.

Our Chapter recently offered a GCC – Perfectly Executed Cross Stitches. SOME pays all teacher expenses related to GCC,s. Students only pay for their copy of the instructions and class supplies. This GCC is well represented by our members.

Outreach Report as submitted. Suzanne Bruno is SOME Chapter’s Outreach Chair.

  1. August: SOME Chapter members represented our Chapter with demonstrations and displays at the Bar Mills Quilts and More Show in Buxton, Maine. A SOME Chapter publication, ‘MAINE REDWORK PORTFOLIO’ was donated to their auction.
  2. September: 26 Quilts were collected for Project Linus from the Casco Needles and Ponds Area group.
